THE DOLOMITE TRAVERSE
From Sciliar, Catinaccio to Tre Cime di Lavaredo
The guides of the Dolomite Adventure Service have given a great deal of thought when putting together this trek across the best known mountains of the Dolomites. Starting at the Catinaccio and ending in Sesto Pusteria you will pass by o over well known landmarks like the Catinaccio di Antermoia, Sassolungo, Sella and Fanes groups as well as the famous Three Peaks of Lavaredo , above Misurina . Most of the time you will trek at about 2000m with occasional climbs up to 3000m.
DESCRIPTION:
1st day: saturday – Arrival
Meet our guide at the hotel*** in Castelrotto at 6 pm. Over welcome drinks there will be a briefing about the week to come.
2nd day: Sunday – Crossing the Catinaccio
Transfer to Alpe di Siusi , descent to Alpe di Tires and through the Grasleiten Gorge to Passo Grasleiten , where we can have our lunch. Ascentt to Scalieret Peak (2890m). Trekking to the most famous peaks of the Dolomites: Marmolada - Civetta - Pelmo - Sorapis - Antelao
This exciting trekking tour leads you to the top of the most famous peaks above 3000m in the Dolomites : narrow gorges, sheer walls and exposed heights combined with rocky plateaus and lovely alp meadows. Get in Touch with history: World War I has left its trace. During the first days we will tackle in the only glacier and the highest mountain of the Dolomites - the Marmolada (3350m) - also called the Queen of the Dolomites! Characterised by her steep South face and impressive gorges, e.g. the Serrai, which is one of our highlights in this tour. The Civetta , also called the Owl, seems to be a kind of bird, which greets its climbers and hikers with its open wings! Although the slopes are also gentle, we find there one of the most inaccessible of the vertical Dolomite rock walls, a true challenge for even the most accomplished alpinists. On the traces of the World War I in the Dolomites
The highest peaks of the Dolomites were the theatre of battles among men during World War I , who are attempted to live together in peace today. The war trades offer an interesting insight into history and are characterised by ladders, bridges, trenches and galleries. A spectacular Dolomite scenery leads us through the mountains of Tofana, Marmolada, Cristallo e Tre Cimed di Lavaredo during the whole week.
DESCRIPTION:
1st day: Saturday – Arrival
We meet in our hotel at the Passo Giau above Cortina at 6 pm. Our guide brief you the procedure for the week and checks the equipment. Dinner.
2nd day: Sunday – Castelletto / Tofane
Ascent o Lagazuoi (2790) by cable car. Wonderful views to Civetta , Pelmo, Tofane , almost all peaks over 3000m of the Dolomites are visible! We walk to the deeply fissured rock of Castelletto (2450m). There we get an insight of the battles between Italians and Austrians Descent to Passo Falzarego . Transfer back to our inn.
